2nd European Congress on Disinformation and Fact-Checking

The 2nd European Congress on Disinformation and Fact-Checking took place on 29–30 October 2025 in Madrid, Spain, in a hybrid format combining online and in-person sessions at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). The congress brought together researchers, journalists, policymakers, and civil society actors to discuss emerging challenges and solutions related to disinformation, fact-checking, and media literacy.

Preliminary results from the first phase of our ongoing EcoMedia Kids project were presented during the congress. During the presentation, Dr. Flavia Ferreira Santos introduced the initial findings of the project, highlighting how media literacy and environmental education initiatives can help children develop critical thinking skills and better understand issues such as climate change communication and digital disinformation. The presentation, titled “Children Learning About the Climate Crisis and Disinformation: A Forest School Case Study,” explored how outdoor learning environments can support children in critically engaging with digital media and information about the climate crisis.
